Sharepoint brings to the Microsoft world what the Lotus world has enjoyed for years...a good collaborative platform. There are many things in Sharepoint that are easily recognizable from a Lotus perspective: document-based collaboration, workflow, doc libraries, discussion threads, granular security. All with a pleasing UI and navigable tool set. In 2003, we reviewed the tool and found it too lacking for serious work.
Now with 2007, there's enough there there, if you know what I mean, to make it worthwhile. Beyond the aforementioned features, there are a lot of other things to like about Sharepoint: Business Data Integration, Office integration, web content management, blogs, and a lot more. Since we've been designing, building and administering these types of systems for years, we've applied our knowledge and experience to apply these things to the Sharepoint world...and we like it.
Are we advocating people to use Notes/Domino? Yes, by all means. We love it!
Are we advocating people to use Sharepoint? Yes, by all means. We love it too!
The point is that both these technologies have a lot of merit. They should be used where the need and environment is appropriate. Even better (for us, and for you), there are good arguments for them being used together. And that's where Workflow Studios can really shine for you. We know the products, we know their strengths and weaknesses, we know how to integrate them and the best tools for doing so. We'd love to help you in solving these kinds of problems and turning them into opportunities for your company to broaden its capabilities.
